I have for sale an absolutely immaculate Peavey 6505+ 120 watt head. The amp (head only) was only bought brand new for £1074 a couple of months ago from Gear4Music (I still have the receipts) and has only seen about 4 hours-worth of use since it was bought, which has all been light home use IT HAS NEVER BEEN GIGGED. Sadly my band broke up just as I bought this and I am sticking to studio work from here so I no longer need such a large amp and sadly it has to go. The power cable, footswitch and LED remote control will be included in the sale. This is not your average 6505+, it has had a very noticeable facelift ensuring it stands out from the crowd. The standard grille has been replaced by a ½ inch thick Plexiglas panel which has been professionally laser cut with all of the logos. The whole thing is illuminated by REMOTE CONTROL RGB LEDs (handset included). This means that you have a choice of 16 colours which can be set as a static light or flash/fade randomly, you can even program the patterns, brightness and speed of the changes. The modification was professionally carried out and cost £100. The front panel has been designed to mount on the original screws the stock grille mounted on meaning that should you wish to revert back to the original looks there will be no nasty holes to worry about (Please note that the original grille will be included in the sale should you wish to do this). Overall this striking modification really turns heads and makes the amp look as good as it sounds. Sound wise, this amp is a true gain monster! For those of you who aren’t familiar with the 6505 series, the chances are very high that you have heard one, the 6505 was originally badged the 5150 and was guitar legend Eddie Van Halen’s signature amp for many years. The rebranded the 6505 was later released and quickly became the ‘go to’ for high gain metal tones as used by a wide range of artists including: Machine Head, Bullet for my Valentine, Thunderstone and Evergrey. However, don’t think that this is a one trick pony restricted to metal alone - this particular model is the 6505+ with a dedicated clean channel that really sparkles with crystal cleans with the gain dialled low but you can get some awesome crunch and hotter tones with the gain rolled up higher which are ideal for blues and country. Secondly there is a ‘crunch’ setting on the clean channel which boosts the gain which gives a very classic Marshall JCM sort of tone which is quite useful. The 2nd channel is where things get very interesting however, the 6505 series are well known for their high gain settings and this is no exception – this amp screams! There is more gain on tap than you will ever need and definition does not suffer even on the higher gain settings. Both channels sport their own independent 3 band eq and their own ‘resonance’ (low end) and ‘presence’ (high end) settings so you can shape your perfect tone. With the amp being a staggering 120 watts (with switchable impedance between 16, 8 and 4 ohm) you will never struggle to be heard! With the amp I am including the 4x12 speaker cab, it’s actually a rare Windsor cab (which currently are selling on Greatbritainlisted for around the £200 mark), The cab is in very good condition apart from some very minor cosmetic marks on the back (these are just from where I mounted a surge protected 4 way plug and in no way compromise the performance or looks). This cab complements the head perfectly and the tone is extremely pleasing! I am looking to sell the head and cab together but will consider a split for the right offer. A used 6505+ setup (without the LED mod) you would be looking at around the £800 mark, I am looking for a bargain price of £750 for the lot! Grab yourself an absolute bargain today!!
